1. Most of the boys start to follow Jack because of either fear or because they do not want to be left behind. This says a lot about human nature. It says that people want to go with the crowd and not do or say what they think is right. This is why many of the boys are pressured to start following Jack.
2. What made the killing of the pig so brutal was that they cut off the pig's head and put it on a stick. They start calling it Lord of The Flies and chanting. This is what makes killing the pig very brutal, and this also shows many of the boys taking a step towards becoming a savage.
